NEWARK, NJ – The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz G. Fragé, confirmed the arrest of Kevin Swinton, a 27-year-old Newark resident, regarding a kidnapping and robbery that took place on March 16.
Swinton was already being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility when detectives identified him as a suspect.
The incident involved a man who was accosted near his apartment in the 400 block of Clinton Place.
The man was held at knifepoint, and was coerced into withdrawing $350 from an ATM on Lyons Avenue under duress.
Swinton now faces charges that include kidnapping, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and terroristic threats.
