EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ – A 16-year-old teenager from Old Bridge, NJ, was taken into custody on Thursday, and charged with juvenile delinquency offenses that would constitute False Public Alarm if committed by an adult.
The charges are in connection to hoax bomb threats made against a Hooters restaurant on 195 Highway 18.
The East Brunswick Police Department first responded to a bomb threat at Hooters on July 6, at approximately 9:28 PM. Following a similar pattern, another bomb threat was reported at the same restaurant on July 19, at 1:52 PM.
In both instances, the restaurant had to be evacuated until a bomb-sniffing K9 from the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the absence of any explosives.
Detectives Crispin Farrace, Alexander Danese, and Christopher Williams traced both calls to the same phone number, eventually leading to the arrest of the juvenile. The teenager has since admitted to making both threats.
