Marine Unit Rescues Man on Sinking Jetski

HARFORD, MD – It was a textbook case of see and do for officers of the Harford County Sheriff’s Department’s Marine unit. The officers saw a problem and did what they had to do to rescue the distressed boater.

On Saturday, the Marine Unit successfully came to the aid of a jet skier, who found himself in a precarious situation with a sinking watercraft.

The team was engaged in a routine patrol between Lee’s Landing and the 95 bridge, when they spotted a jet ski floating in an unusual spot.

Upon closer inspection, the jet skier was found attempting to bail water out of the rear hull area using a Gatorade bottle.

The watercraft’s motor had been disabled, and the rider believed that the issue may have been due to a missing seal from recent repairs. The Marine Unit facilitated his transfer to their vessel.

Given the perilous rocky conditions near Webster Lapidum, the Marine Unit transported the disabled jet ski to the Cecil County ramp. Once there, the rider managed to secure the jet ski, expecting someone to pick him up shortly.
