MILLERSVILLE, MD- A family scratch-off tradition turned into an unexpected $50,000 payday for an 18-year-old resident of Millersville, Anne Arundel County.
It all started when the young man’s father visited Benfield Wine & Spirits at 401 Headquarters Drive in Millersville to purchase scratch-offs for himself, his wife, his son (the winner), and his other son. Among the tickets, the lucky winner received a $10 Money Bag Multiplier instant ticket and began scratching it off.
“I saw a $1,000 prize. I was surprised, and then I saw the 50X and I was like, ‘No way!'” the young player exclaimed. He quickly approached his dad, declaring, “I think I won $50,000.”
“I was shocked at first,” said the elated winner, who plans to keep his Lottery luck a secret for now. As a restaurant employee, he decided to have his parents safeguard his ticket until he and his mom claimed the prize this week at Lottery headquarters in Baltimore.
Filled with excitement, the happy winner already has a plan for his windfall. He intends to use the prize money to help pay his parents’ bills as a gesture of gratitude. Additionally, he plans to treat himself to something enjoyable, a well-deserved reward for his incredible luck.
The Money Bag Multiplier instant ticket, which went on sale in April, still holds plenty of potential for future winners. The game currently boasts three remaining top prizes of $100,000, along with five unclaimed $50,000 prizes and 14 $10,000 prizes, keeping the thrill alive for scratch-off enthusiasts.
