Police Upgrade January Death of Woman to Homicide

BROOKLYN, NY – The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has officially classified the death of Lorraine Bumbury, a 62-year-old resident of Brooklyn, as a homicide.

The initial report of the incident dates back to Thursday, January 19.

At approximately 1:45 pm on the aforementioned date, police responded to a 911 call reporting an individual needing assistance at an apartment within the Brownsville NYCHA Development located at 294 Osborn Street.

Officers discovered Ms. Bumbury, unconscious and unresponsive, lying on a couch. Emergency medical services responded and pronounced Ms. Bumbury deceased at the scene.

The cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The New York City Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
