Heavy Rains Anticipated in New York City Today

NEW YORK, NY – Rain could blanket the Big Apple today as residents can expect showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 pm, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm.

Some of these storms could bring heavy rainfall. The sky will be mostly cloudy, and the high temperature will be near 82 degrees. A south wind will blow at 8 to 11 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%, and new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms are likely before 11 pm. Between 11 pm and 2 am, there is a likelihood of showers and possibly a thunderstorm. After 2 am, there remains a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of these storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall. The night will be mostly cloudy, with a low temperature around 72 degrees. A south wind will blow at 8 to 14 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70%, and new rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch are possible.

On Tuesday, there is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 2 pm. The day will be mostly cloudy, and the high temperature will be near 82 degrees. A southwest wind will blow at 7 to 15 mph.
