Hempstead Man Charged in Deadly Reckless Crash

MINEOLA, N.Y. – Donnell Hill, 51, was arraigned before Judge Terence Murphy on Wednesday on charges that include aggravated vehicular homicide, manslaughter, and assault among others.

Hill pleaded not guilty and bail was set at $250,000 bond, $125,000 cash, or $1 million partially secured at 10%. If convicted, Hill could face up to 25 years in prison.

The incident occurred on October 29, 2022, around 10:36 p.m., when Hill lost control of his 2018 Dodge Charger on Jerusalem Avenue in Hempstead.

The crash resulted in the death of 26-year-old Xavier Parris and injured three other occupants, including Hill’s teenage son.

Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly said that Hill was allegedly both intoxicated and driving at a high speed when the incident occurred. The Nassau County Police Department is handling the investigation. Hill is due back in court on September 20.
