Toms River Man Charged with Arson and Burglary at Dad’s Home

OCEAN COUNTY, NJ – John Voltolino, Jr., 45, was charged with multiple offenses including Aggravated Arson and Burglary after breaking into his father’s home on Sun Valley Road in Toms River.

Officers from the Toms River Township Police Department arrived at the residence around 5:00 p.m. following a burglary report. The homeowner, who is Voltolino Jr.’s father, reported that his son had broken into the house and stolen a laptop.

Officers observed a broken bathroom window, blood traces, and an extinguished fire on the living room floor next to a container of gasoline.

A thorough scene examination was carried out by various investigative units including the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime–Arson Squad. It was determined that Voltolino, Jr. intentionally set the fire using paper towels and the gasoline container.

Subsequently, he was arrested in a wooded area behind the residence and charged with additional counts of aggravated arson and criminal mischief.

Voltolino, Jr. is currently in Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.
