Pedestrian Killed in Chesapeake Beach Crash

CALVERT COUNTY, MD – On Sunday, at approximately 4:48 a.m., members of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Bayside Road and Research Lane in Chesapeake Beach. Patrick Brooks, a 43-year-old resident of Chesapeake Beach, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, operated by James Duncan, 59, also of Chesapeake Beach, was traveling south on Bayside Road. Brooks was walking north in the southbound lane and appeared to be in the center of the lane when he was struck by the vehicle.

Deputy First Class M. Lewis of the Crash Reconstruction Team is leading the ongoing investigation. The team was called to the scene due to the severity of the incident.

Brooks suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. The case number for this investigation is #23-62542.
