Silver Spring Man Killed in Morning Crash

SILVER SPRING, MD – Evan Heath Hesekiel, 31, died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing New Hampshire Avenue near Chalmers Road early Wednesday morning.

Local authorities, including 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel, arrived at the scene at approximately 4:12 a.m. following reports of a pedestrian-involved collision. Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are conducting the ongoing investigation.

Initial findings indicate that the driver of a white 2020 Ford Transit Van was heading southbound on New Hampshire Avenue when he hit Hesekiel, who was also crossing the avenue in a southbound direction, north of Chalmers Road. The driver remained at the scene.

Hesekiel was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
