FORESTVILLE, MD – The Homicide Unit has arrested 34-year-old Devonte Taylor of District Heights in relation to the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Tyrone Thomas, also of District Heights, that took place in August.
Officers responded to the 3700 block of Donnell Drive at about 1:35 a.m. on August 13, 2023, following reports of a shooting. Tyrone Thomas was found outside with gunshot wounds and later pronounced dead at a hospital. Two other adult males were shot but their injuries are not life-threatening.
The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, although it has been confirmed that the suspect and victims knew each other.
Taylor is now in custody and faces charges of first and second degree murder, attempted first and second degree murder, and related charges.
