CRANFORD, NJ – Newly installed Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPRs) aid Cranford Police in crime deterrence.
The recent increase in automobile thefts and associated violent crimes has led the Cranford Police Department to implement Automatic License Plate Readers (ALPRs) throughout the township.
Since its implementation a month ago, several alerts of confirmed stolen vehicles entering the area have been flagged by the system. These real-time notifications allow the department to respond swiftly and deter further potential criminal actions.
The ALPR technology helps in efficiently tracking vehicles linked to criminal deeds, bolstering the law enforcement’s efforts in the area. Furthermore, Cranford now joins other Union County communities and those across New Jersey in adopting ALPRs. This broadens the capacity for sharing critical data and addressing local crime issues.
