Lititz Man Heading to Prison for Fatal DUI Crash

LITITZ, PA – A Lititz man, Phillip Sullivan II, 20, was sentenced last Friday to 3 to 8 years in prison followed by 7 years of probation, in connection to a fatal crash that occurred on July 5, 2021. The accident, which took place in the 5700 block of Division Highway, claimed the life of 18-year-old Andrew Stoltzfus and also resulted in the death of a horse.

Sullivan pleaded guilty to 13 charges, including a lead charge of homicide by vehicle while under the influence – a second-degree felony. Sullivan, who was found to have a BAC of .103 and THC in his system, crashed into Stoltzfus’s horse-and-buggy around 2:45 a.m., after leaving a Fourth of July party.

Assistant District Attorney Kyle Linardo, who prosecuted the case, revealed during the hearing that Stoltzfus was returning home from visiting his girlfriend at the time of the crash.

The crash reconstruction showed Sullivan’s vehicle was traveling approximately 68 miles per hour in a 45 MPH zone.

Judge Jeffrey Wright, while pointing out Sullivan’s acceptance of responsibility and the presence of his family in the courtroom, sentenced him to the defense’s requested sentence instead of the max sentence of 27 ½ years, also ordering him to write an apology letter to the Stoltzfus family.
