Newark IHOP Employee Thwarts Robbery, Suspect Sought

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé is appealing to the public for help in identifying a suspect captured in the provided image, who allegedly attempted to steal money from an IHOP employee on October 2.

The incident took place around 3:40 p.m. at the IHOP situated in the 900 block of Broad Street. According to reports, the suspect entered the restaurant and tried to snatch money directly from the hand of an employee, who was in the process of counting it to hand over to her manager at the end of her shift.

The suspect was unsuccessful as the employee resisted, prompting him to exit the establishment. Witnesses last saw him fleeing west on Hill Street, riding a black and green bicycle.
