Guilty Plea Entered in West Philadelphia Gang-Related Shootings

PHILADELPHIA, PA – Jalen Mickens has pleaded guilty to his involvement in a series of gang-related shootings in West Philadelphia.

The shootings include a violent assault during a community barbecue in the Cobbs Creek neighborhood on July 4, 2021.

The Philadelphia Police Crime Scene Unit recovered 103 fired cartridge casings from the scene, which resulted in two fatalities and injuries to others.

Mickens faced trial for three separate shooting incidents and has been convicted of multiple criminal offenses, including murder.

His sentencing is scheduled for January 5, 2024, by the Hon. J. Scott O’Keefe.
