SEPTA Bus Driver Fatally Shot While on Route in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, PA – An incident occurred Thursday morning in Philadelphia’s Germantown neighborhood where a Route 23 SEPTA bus driver was shot and killed.

The incident happened near the Germantown and Abbottsford avenues intersection, a bit before 10:30 a.m.

The 48-year-old driver, with 12 years of service with SEPTA, sustained six gunshot wounds to his chest and abdomen, reportedly by a female assailant, as cited by The Philadelphia Inquirer.

He was immediately taken to a hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after.

SEPTA has yet to reveal if any passengers were harmed. However, police have taken a woman matching the shooter’s description into custody, as shared by Deputy Commissioner Frank Vanore. The investigation is ongoing, with no weapons recovered as of now.
