14-Year-Old Playing Basketball Among Two Shot This Weekend in Paterson

PATERSON, NJ – Two separate shootings occurred in Paterson on Saturday, adding to a month already marked by violence. A 14-year-old boy was shot around 4:30 p.m. while playing basketball. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The shooting took place near Halpine and North 2nd Street.

Later, at approximately 8:00 p.m., a 25-year-old man was shot in the area of Belmont Avenue and North 8th Street.

Both victims are expected to recover.

These incidents follow a month of violence in Paterson that resulted in six fatalities and multiple gun violence-related events. Investigations into the shootings are ongoing.
