INDIANA, PA – A reported robbery near George P. Miller Stadium at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) led to a shooting incident involving a university police officer on Sunday night. The incident took place just shy of 9:40 p.m.

Upon responding to the robbery report, the officer confronted a person in a parking lot. This individual brandished a knife and charged at the officer, prompting the officer to discharge his weapon.

The suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Cameron Raubaugh, fled the scene but was subsequently detained after a Taser was effectively used.

Raubaugh later confessed to making a fraudulent 911 robbery call. He cited feelings of depression and a desire to be shot by police.

Raubaugh now faces charges including aggravated assault, simple assault, and false reports. As is protocol with IUP, an officer involved in a shooting is placed on administrative leave pending further investigations.
