Suspect in January Paterson Killing Arrested

PATERSON, NJ – A significant development has arisen in a homicide case dating back to January 23.

Paterson Police, alongside the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, have apprehended Rogelio Gonzalez, a 30-year-old from Paterson, in connection with the crime.

The arrest took place on Monday, following investigative work linking Gonzalez to the shooting at Berkshire and Chamberlain Avenue. The incident resulted in Marvin Lavezarri, 26, being shot and later dying from his injuries.

Gonzalez faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder and attempted murder, with potential sentences ranging significantly.

Awaiting his first court appearance, further judicial proceedings are expected to be scheduled to address pretrial detention and subsequent trial dates.
