Mt. Oliver Woman Arrested After Child Found High on Cocaine at Hospital

PITTSBURGH, PA – The Allegheny County Police Department has charged Toni Hinton, 28, of Mt. Oliver, following her child’s hospitalization due to cocaine exposure. The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 12.

Mt. Oliver Police, assisted by the Allegheny County Police Department’s General Investigations Unit, responded to a report at UPMC Children’s Hospital involving a seven-year-old male who had fallen ill. Medical tests revealed the presence of cocaine metabolite in the child’s system.

An investigation led to the discovery of suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia at Hinton’s residence, located in areas accessible to the child. Following treatment and release from the hospital, the child is now safe.

Hinton faces charges including endangering the welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, and possession of cocaine. She was arrested and taken to Allegheny County Jail, awaiting preliminary arraignment. The Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office is overseeing the legal proceedings.
