Canadian Woman Arrested in Wall Township Bail Scam

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Wall Township Police Department has announced the arrest of 19-year-old Shenaaya Hackett from Montreal, Canada, on charges of 3rd Degree Theft by Deception. The arrest followed an investigation into a bail scam operation.

The incident unfolded on Thursday, when at around 2:15 PM, Wall Township police officers responded to a report in the Manasquan Park area. A resident had received a phone call claiming that their grandson was arrested and required $10,000 for release. The caller also mentioned that someone would come to collect the bail money.

In response, the police set up a sting operation at a predetermined location to intercept the person coming to collect the money. It was here that officers encountered Ms. Hackett, leading to her arrest on charges of 3rd Degree Theft by Deception. She was subsequently transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Facility.
