Allentown Man Arrested for Aggravated Assault During Mental Health Breakdown

ALLENTOWN, PA – On Sunday, Allentown Police responded to a disturbance on the 1300 block of South Race Street at approximately 5:00 PM.

Eder Odemar Montes-Samaniego, 24, from the same address, was reportedly experiencing a mental health breakdown and brandishing an edged weapon.

Upon arrival, Montes-Samaniego attempted to harm the responding officers during their de-escalation efforts. He then fled the scene but was apprehended a short distance away.

Montes-Samaniego now faces charges including aggravated assault, simple assault causing bodily injury with a deadly weapon, mutual consent simple assault, and harassment.

The Allentown Police remind the public that all accused individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
