by Local News Report

ANNAPOLIS, MD – An early morning shooting this morning in Annapolis has been determined to be self-inflicted. Officers responded to a shooting report at 2:04 am in the 1100 block of Frederick Douglass Street.

Initially, an officer stationed in Harbor House did not observe any signs of a shooting but responded to the location. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male victim with a gunshot wound to the upper leg. The victim initially reported being shot in the 900 block of President Street by an unknown assailant.

After being transported to a local hospital in stable condition, further investigation revealed that the injury was consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victim later confirmed to investigators that the wound was accidentally self-inflicted due to the negligent handling of a handgun he was carrying.
