Dieruff High School Locked Down as Student with Gun Detained by Police

ALLENTOWN, PA – Dieruff High School experienced a brief lockdown on Tuesday after a report of a student possessing a weapon on campus.

The Allentown School District initiated the lockdown at approximately 10:30 a.m., which lasted about 10 minutes.

Allentown Police, responding to the situation, found the student outside the school premises in possession of a firearm.

The 17-year-old student is now facing charges, including possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number, being a minor in possession of a firearm, and carrying a firearm without a license. The case is set to be addressed in Lehigh County Juvenile Court.

The school district has announced an increased police presence on campus throughout the week to ensure student safety.
