CAMDEN, NJ – Taurean Gordon, a 40-year-old man from Irvington, New Jersey, admitted to charges related to the illegal possession of firearms and narcotics in Camden federal court. U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced the guilty plea.
Gordon pleaded guilty to possessing heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine with intent to distribute, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
On February 11, 2021, Gordon was found in possession of the drugs, packaged for distribution, and a loaded revolver.
The narcotics offense carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine. Possession of a firearm by a felon could result in up to 10 years in prison, while the charge of possessing a firearm in drug trafficking has a mandatory minimum of five years, potentially up to life imprisonment. Each firearm count also carries a maximum fine of $250,000. Sentencing is scheduled for May 8.
The Newark Police Division and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation.
