– A violent altercation at a Maverik gas station led to the arrest of Cody Fertig, 33, of Cheyenne. The incident occurred on December 10 at around 3:00 a.m. at the gas station located at 140 Gardenia Drive.
Cheyenne Police responded to reports of a pedestrian hit and run involving injuries. Upon arrival, officers found two adult female victims, one seriously injured after being run over by a vehicle, and the other hit in the face with an ice scraper.
The confrontation began when the victims, who had arrived in a truck, met with Fertig. An argument escalated when Fertig displayed a firearm and assaulted one of the women with the ice scraper. He then struck their truck several times with the scraper, injuring the second woman through the driver’s side window.
Fertig further assaulted the first woman by pushing her to the ground and punching her. As he was leaving, he reversed his car, running over the body and head of one of the females before fleeing the scene.
Fertig was later located outside his residence. He attempted to escape, leading to a foot pursuit that ended at Albertsons on East Pershing Boulevard, where he was arrested without further incident.
He is currently booked into the Laramie County Jail, facing charges of aggravated assault with a weapon, aggravated assault with injury, assault-battery, and interference with a peace officer.
