Toms River Man Charged for Shooting of Man ‘Lost in Lakewood’

LAKEWOOD, NJ – A significant development Thursday in the investigation of a shooting involving a driver who got lost in Lakewood was announced this weekend.

Lakewood Police made an arrest following the incident that took place on Sunday night.

The victim, a 27-year-old man from Asbury Park, sought treatment at Ocean University Medical Center in Brick for gunshot wounds in each arm. He reported that he was en route to Toms River and had pulled over in the Westgate complex in Lakewood when the incident occurred.

Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer identified the suspect as Million Brown-Bey, 47, of Toms River. The victim was approached by Brown-Bey upon arriving at a residence on Hillside Boulevard in Lakewood. Brown-Bey reportedly fired a single round, striking the victim in both arms.

Brown-Bey faces multiple charges, including attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, being a certain person not to possess a weapon, and refusal to allow a biological sample to be collected. According to Billhimer, Brown-Bey refused to provide a DNA sample as required by law.
