Monroe Police Breakup Online Sale of Stolen Vehicles

by Charlie Dwyer

MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Tuesday, the Monroe Township Police Department successfully prevented the sale of stolen vehicles, following a local resident’s suspicions about a transaction on Facebook Marketplace.

The resident, who had agreed to purchase a vehicle from a seller on the online platform, contacted detectives after suspecting foul play. The ensuing investigation confirmed that the vehicle was indeed reported as stolen from another jurisdiction.

Detectives devised a strategy to apprehend the suspects during the vehicle’s delivery. As planned, the vehicle arrived, leading to the arrest of two suspects without any complications. Additionally, a second vehicle, which accompanied the first and was also stolen, led to the arrest of two more individuals involved in the scheme.

The four suspects, charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, are currently held at the Middlesex County Jail. They are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

In light of this incident, the Monroe Township Police Department reminds residents to exercise caution in online transactions.
