D.C. Police Nab Second Suspect in 2021 Murder Case

Washington, DC – The D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch has announced a significant development in a May 2021 homicide investigation with the arrest of a second suspect. The case revolves around the fatal shooting of 27-year-old Leonard Turner in the 400 block of 2nd Street, Northwest, on the evening of May 14, 2021. Turner succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital shortly after the incident.

On Tuesday, 53-year-old Violet Davenport from Northwest was apprehended by members of the US Marshals Service. She has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed following a DC Superior Court Indictment. This arrest marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing investigation, providing a new lead in a case that has remained active for nearly three years.

This latest arrest follows the initial apprehension of a male suspect on August 16, 2021, who was also charged with First Degree Murder while Armed in connection to Turner’s death.
