BROOKLYN, NY — A Brooklyn man, David Gorham, was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison for the murder of Elvin Fernandez outside the Red Hook Houses. Fernandez succumbed to a fatal gunshot wound to the head three weeks after the incident.
Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Raymond L. Rodriguez imposed the sentence following Gorham’s conviction on charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. The tragic event took place on June 1, 2020, and led to the arrest of Gorham on June 18, 2020.
District Attorney Eric Gonzalez expressed his condolences to Fernandez’s family, highlighting the victim’s anticipation of his first child’s birth. The evidence presented at trial revealed that Gorham ambushed Fernandez and his pregnant girlfriend, leading to the devastating outcome.
