Pedestrian Fatally Struck by NJ Transit Train in Hazlet

HAZLET, NJ – A tragic incident occurred on Thursday when a man was struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train on the North Jersey Coast Line, according to agency spokesperson Everett Merrill. The train, which was out of passenger service and being moved along the line, collided with the pedestrian near Hazlet Station on Holmdel Road around 3:52 PM.

The train had no passengers at the time of the incident, and no crew members were injured. Despite the accident, the North Jersey Coast Line continued to operate, albeit with delays affecting certain trains in the vicinity.

The identity of the deceased and the exact circumstances leading up to the tragic event remain unclear as of Thursday night. The New Jersey Transit Police Department is leading the investigation into the incident.

Travelers experienced delays of up to 15 minutes in both directions on the line, particularly between the Aberdeen-Matawan and Little Silver stops, following the accident.
