NEW YORK, NY – A robbery on a northbound “5” train near Baychester Avenue has prompted an NYPD investigation following an incident that occurred in the early hours of Monday, March 25, 2024.
At approximately 1:50 AM, a 31-year-old male was approached by two unidentified individuals while aboard the train. According to the police report, one of the suspects acted as a lookout at the door while the other physically assaulted the victim, punching him and forcibly taking his wallet, which contained $150. The lookout then threatened to display a knife, demanding the victim hand over his belongings.
Following the robbery, both suspects fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was treated for minor facial swelling and pain and is reported to be in stable condition.
The NYPD is seeking any information regarding the suspects involved in this crime and is asking witnesses or anyone with knowledge about the incident to come forward to assist with the ongoing investigation.
