Brooklyn Pro-Palestine Protester Arrested for Attack on Jewish Man Carrying Israeli Flag

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department reported the arrest of a Brooklyn man on charges related to criminal mischief, arson, and possession of stolen property.

One man has been arrested and two others are being sought after the man was robbed of his flag, then attacked with a rock.

James Carlson, a 40-year-old resident of 237 14th Street, was arrested at 4:00 PM on Wednesday within the confines of the 26th Precinct. Two additional suspects related to the case are still being sought.

The NYPD sought the public’s assistance to identify the suspect involved in a hate crime assault. The incident occurred on Saturday around 9:55 PM near Amsterdam Avenue and West 116 Street.

A 22-year-old male victim was assaulted after an unknown male forcibly took an Israeli flag from him. Following the theft, the victim pursued the suspect into a crowd, where a second assailant threw a rock at his face.

A third participant then set the stolen flag on fire. The victim suffered minor injuries but declined medical treatment.
