New York Man Sentenced for Time Served After Dealing Fentanyl in North Jersey

NEWARK, NJ—Jose Migel Cleto, a 65-year-old resident of Manhattan, New York, was sentenced today to 25 months in prison, equivalent to the time he has already served, for his involvement in the distribution of fentanyl. The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger and took place in Newark federal court under U.S. District Judge Madeline Cox Arleo.

Cleto had previously entered a guilty plea to a charge of distribution and possession with the intent to distribute a mixture and substance containing a detectable amount of fentanyl. Court documents reveal that in April 2022, Cleto engaged in the distribution of over 400 grams of fentanyl in a commercial parking lot located in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

The sentence reflects the time Cleto has already spent in custody, marking the conclusion of his case.
