Teen Arrested for Auto Theft and Attempted Police Cruiser Theft in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD—A 16-year-old boy faces multiple charges after a high-speed pursuit and an attempted theft of a Montgomery County Police K-9 cruiser. The incident began in the early hours of Wednesday when Gaithersburg Police spotted a stolen Ford F150 on Travis Ave. The driver sped off when police attempted to stop the vehicle.

The chase escalated near 355 North and Appledowre Way, where a Montgomery County K-9 officer joined the pursuit. The teen eventually crashed into a curb on Watkins Mill Rd., disabling the truck. He fled on foot but was apprehended by the K-9 officer after attempting to steal the police cruiser during the pursuit.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the 6th District station, facing charges including multiple counts of auto theft, traffic violations, and possession of a controlled substance. He was later released to his parent or guardian.
