Baltimore Man Charged After Shooting Inside Restaurant

Ellicott City, MD – The Howard County police are currently investigating a shooting that occurred on August 3 at the Mint Room, located in the 9400 block of Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City.

The incident, which took place around 8:54 p.m., resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to an adult male who was subsequently transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Authorities have arrested 60-year-old Barry Batson of Baltimore at the scene, charging him with attempted second-degree murder. The initial investigation suggests that an altercation between Batson and the victim escalated, leading to the shooting. Thankfully, no other patrons were harmed during the incident.

Howard County police believe the shooting was domestic-related.
