Maryland man busted for robbery loaded with crack, meth, and heroin

MIDDLETOWN, Del. — Middletown Police arrested a Maryland man Tuesday on charges related to robbery and drug possession after a brief foot chase, authorities said.

Taron Hampton, 40, of Warwick, Md., was spotted around 10 a.m. on September 3 in a red Pontiac Grand Prix on Middletown Warwick Road. Police, aware that Hampton was wanted for second-degree robbery, approached the vehicle. Hampton initially cooperated but fled on foot shortly after. Officers apprehended him following a brief pursuit.

A subsequent search of Hampton’s vehicle uncovered 22 grams of methamphetamine, 1.5 grams of crack cocaine, nine ecstasy pills, 15 bags of heroin, and seven oxycodone pills, police said.

Hampton now faces several charges, including possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, resisting arrest, and second-degree robbery. He is being held at Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $10,500 secured bond.

Middletown Police shared the arrest details on social media, noting the successful apprehension and seizure of drugs during the incident.
