Newark Dunkin Burglary Suspect Fled to Stephen Crane Village

NEWARK, N.J. — Authorities are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a burglary at a Dunkin’ Donuts on Franklin Avenue, the Newark Department of Public Safety announced Wednesday.

The burglary occurred early on the morning of Saturday, September 7, 2024, at approximately 3:23 a.m. According to police, the suspect, described as a Black male dressed in all-black clothing, arrived at the store on an electric scooter.

The man broke into the store through a side entrance and then forced his way into an office, where he stole approximately $3,500 in cash. He fled northbound on North 6th Street on the electric scooter.

The suspect, who was also wearing a black face mask, orange and black gloves, and black sneakers, was later seen entering a vehicle after arriving in Stephen Crane Village. Detectives noted that video surveillance captured a white Kia parked in the lot during the burglary and leaving shortly after the suspect fled.
