JACKSON, Miss. — A brother and sister from Clinton, Mississippi, were sentenced Thursday for their roles in a murder-for-hire scheme aimed at killing their stepfather to collect life insurance money, federal prosecutors announced.
Joshua Druid Bryan, 29, received a 120-month prison sentence after being convicted at trial of conspiracy to commit murder for hire and murder for hire. His sister, 30-year-old Regan Emily Bryan, was sentenced to 65 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit murder for hire.
According to court documents and evidence presented during trial, the siblings sought to hire a hitman to carry out the killing. Authorities did not specify how the plot was foiled but stated that both were apprehended and prosecuted following an investigation.
The sentencing was announced by U.S. Attorney Todd W. Gee for the Southern District of Mississippi and ATF Special Agent in Charge Joshua Jackson, who credited their teams for bringing the case to justice.
