Fatal trailer fire under investigation in Elkton

ELKTON, Md. — A fatal trailer fire in the 1930 block of East Old Philadelphia Road is under investigation after firefighters located the body of a victim inside late Wednesday night.

The fire was reported around 9:00 p.m., drawing emergency responders from the Singerly Fire Company, North East Fire Company Inc., and other surrounding departments. One person was able to escape the blaze and alerted responders that another individual was still inside the trailer.

After extinguishing the fire, firefighters discovered the remains of one victim. The identity of the deceased has not been released, and authorities have not provided further details about the person who escaped.

Deputy State Fire Marshals, alongside K9 Blondie, remain on the scene to determine the cause of the fire. Investigators are working to gather evidence and assess the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.

More information will be released as it becomes available, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
