GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A Laytonsville man has been charged with homicide by motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol following a July collision that killed a Rockville woman, Montgomery County police announced Tuesday.

Isaac Tomas Pellegrino, 29, was charged in connection with the fatal crash that occurred on Goshen Road near the intersection with Rock Elm Way. Investigators say Pellegrino was driving a blue 2019 Kia Stinger northbound at a high rate of speed when his vehicle collided with a white 2021 Hyundai Venue traveling southbound.

The driver of the Hyundai, 25-year-old Yanique Tyshay Jones of Rockville, had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) determined that Pellegrino was driving at speeds up to 69 mph in a 35-mph zone and had a blood alcohol content of 0.19, more than twice the legal limit.

Pellegrino now faces serious charges as the investigation concludes, and he awaits legal proceedings.
