Cumberland police investigating homicide of man found in parking garage

CUMBERLAND, Md. — Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after the body of a 42-year-old man was discovered early Sunday morning in the Frederick Street Parking Garage.

Officers from the Cumberland Police Department and personnel from the Cumberland Fire Department responded to the scene at approximately 1:32 a.m. to a report of an injured person. Upon arrival, they found Todd Ellsworth Adams, 42, of Cumberland, with apparent injuries. Adams was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an autopsy, Adams’ death was ruled a homicide. Police noted that Adams, a familiar figure in the downtown area, was known to frequent the local homeless community.

The Cumberland Police Department and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) are leading the investigation and are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the case.
