WILMINGTON, Del. — A Newark woman has been arrested for a string of vehicle thefts and shopliftings that spanned several months and targeted areas across New Castle County, according to Delaware State Police.
Christina Cerroni, 46, was taken into custody on December 30 after troopers responded to Delaware Park Casino in Wilmington for reports of a disorderly person refusing to leave the property. Police said Cerroni initially provided a false name but was recognized by a trooper who had been involved in prior investigations.
State Police allege Cerroni was responsible for multiple motor vehicle thefts in Wilmington and Newark between September 27 and December 29. In each instance, authorities say, she stole unsecured and unattended vehicles before fleeing the scenes.
Cerroni was also identified as the suspect in four shoplifting incidents at a Target store in the Christiana Mall, which occurred in April and May. Police reported that the stolen merchandise from those incidents totaled over $1,000.
Following her arrest, Cerroni was transported to Troop 2, where she was charged with multiple counts related to theft and providing false identification to law enforcement. She was later arraigned and committed to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $2,000 cash bond.
