Teen, 19-year-old arrested after stolen Acura pursuit ends in New Castle

A high-speed chase involving a stolen Acura ended in two arrests after the suspects were found running from the scene in New Castle.

NEW CASTLE, Del. — Delaware State Police arrested a 17-year-old male and 19-year-old LeShaun Bradley of Wilmington early Wednesday morning after a high-speed chase involving a stolen Acura MDX ended in New Castle.

At approximately 1:35 a.m. on January 15, troopers responded to the intersection of New Castle Avenue and Rogers Road after receiving a report of a stolen black Acura in the area. Police confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen to Upper Providence Township Police Department in Pennsylvania.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop after observing the vehicle, but the Acura fled towards Interstate 495 at a high speed. The pursuit was discontinued near Edgemoor after the driver began driving recklessly into a residential neighborhood. Shortly after, New Castle County Police located the vehicle abandoned on Polk Road near South Stuyvesant Drive.

The driver and passenger, identified as the 17-year-old and Bradley, were found running near Bedford Drive and taken into custody after a brief foot chase. Both were transported to Troop 2 and charged with multiple offenses.

The 17-year-old was arraigned and committed to New Castle County Detention Center on a $7,500 cash bond, while Bradley was committed to Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $5,000 cash bond.
