Delivery truck fire on SB270 Spur leaves one critically injured

BETHESDA, MD — Emergency crews responded to a dramatic scene Saturday morning on the southbound I-270 Spur, where a delivery truck went over a Jersey wall and caught fire, leaving one person critically injured.

Units were dispatched to the scene, where fire and rescue teams worked to stabilize the truck and contain the blaze. Rescue Squad RS741B, alongside Truck 710, utilized struts to secure the vehicle to prevent further movement during the operation.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service officials confirmed that one individual sustained life-threatening injuries in the incident. Medic Unit M726 transported the patient to a nearby trauma center in critical condition.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, with authorities working to determine what led to the truck crossing the barrier. Southbound lanes of the I-270 Spur experienced significant delays as crews worked to clear the scene.
