GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A Potomac man is facing first-degree murder charges after walking into a Rockville police station and allegedly confessing to killing his grandmother, authorities announced Monday.
Spencer Dillon Hamilton, 27, was arrested on Sunday, March 30, after he entered the Rockville City Police Station around 8:08 a.m. and reported killing a family member. Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police 1st District and fire rescue personnel responded to the 12600 block of Tribunal Lane in Potomac.
There, they found 87-year-old Pauline Yvonne Titus-Dillon unresponsive in a bathroom. Despite attempts by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service to revive her, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division identified Hamilton as the suspect and placed him under arrest at the police station. He was charged with first-degree murder and transported to the Central Processing Unit, where he remains in custody awaiting a bond hearing.
The victim’s body has been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death. The results of the examination are pending.
Authorities have not disclosed additional details about a motive or the circumstances surrounding the killing.
