Buffalo police search for missing 68-year-old man with dementia

BUFFALO, NY — The Buffalo Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating 68-year-old Darrel McGhee, who has been reported missing since Wednesday morning.

McGhee, who has dementia, was last seen around 9:30 a.m. on May 15 after leaving a scheduled appointment at Eye Care Vision Associates at 932 Elmwood Avenue. He failed to return to his residence at Mary Agnes Manor on Porter Avenue.

Authorities said McGhee does not drive and is likely traveling on foot. He may appear confused or disoriented due to his condition.

McGhee previously resided for 30 years at 136B Cornwall Avenue and was a former resident of Williamsville Suburban Safire Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on South Union Road. He is also known to visit the Tops Markets at 1275 Jefferson Avenue.

Unconfirmed sightings reported

Police have received unconfirmed reports of McGhee being seen on Tuesday, May 14 at his former Cornwall Avenue address, and again on Wednesday morning at the Jefferson Avenue Tops, where he reportedly used the restroom before leaving.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact 911 immediately.

Darrel McGhee was last seen walking alone and has not been heard from since Wednesday morning.
