EGG HARBOR TWP., N.J. — The Egg Harbor Township Police Department is reminding beachgoers that parking is strictly prohibited along Ocean Drive near the popular “Dog Beach” area between Longport and Ocean City.

The advisory, issued Friday ahead of Memorial Day weekend, urges visitors to plan for legal parking to ensure the safety of all beach users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Authorities emphasized that improperly parked vehicles pose serious safety risks and will be subject to enforcement.

“We can’t stress it enough, illegal and improper parking in this area creates serious safety issues for everyone,” the department said. “Should a tragedy occur due to an illegally parked vehicle, you may be subject to criminal charges and civil liabilities.”

While the department acknowledged the appeal of the beach for dogs and their owners, they reiterated that safety must take precedence and that enforcement actions, including tickets and impounds, will be taken if necessary.

Signs are posted along the restricted section of Ocean Drive, and police say compliance is critical to maintaining safe and accessible roadways during the high-traffic holiday period.
