Man slashed in face with knife during dispute at South Ferry subway station

MANHATTAN, N.Y. — A 26-year-old man was slashed in the face during a violent encounter at the South Ferry subway station in Lower Manhattan on Sunday evening, police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:15 p.m. on May 25, when the victim was approached by an unidentified male in the station’s mezzanine area. A verbal dispute escalated, at which point the suspect displayed a knife and slashed the victim about the mouth.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue, where he was reported to be in stable condition with a facial laceration.

The suspect fled the location on foot in an unknown direction, and has not been apprehended.

The assailant is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black ski mask, black jeans, black sweatshirt, and black sneakers.

The NYPD is actively investigating the incident and searching for the suspect.
