TRENTON, N.J. — Still reeling after receiving a gut punch from President Donald J. Trump, former AM/FM radio host Bill Spadea is now asking New Jersey Republican voters to dump Trump when it comes to the June 10th primary election.
Trump overwhelmingly endorsed Spadea’s opponent Jack Ciattarelli, now Spadea is calling on voters to ignore that endorsement and not to listen to the President’s advice.
Spadea is telling voters to focus on his record, not the President’s endorsement, as he launches a $750,000 advertising campaign aimed at countering President Donald Trump’s recent endorsement of rival Jack Ciattarelli.
Spadea’s record on Trump begins with the former radio personality calling for the president to resign from office after January 6th, followed by labeling him a failed president. When Trump needed Spadea’s support most, he openly endorsed Ron DeSantis over the then-former President in the GOP primary campaign.
In a new ad titled “Your Support,” Spadea addresses the Trump endorsement head-on while reaffirming his longstanding support for the former president. Sitting outdoors with a coffee mug in hand, Spadea speaks directly to the camera and the voters who might be thinking of aligning with the President, not to.
“So a Trump endorsement came, and it didn’t go our way,” Spadea says in the ad. “Am I disappointed? Of course I am.”
Spadea, a former radio host and staunch Trump ally, emphasizes that his campaign is rooted in loyalty to conservative values, even if he has publicly disagreed with Trump on certain issues. “I think he should have fired Fauci and eradicated the deep state in the first term,” he says. “It’s okay for you to disagree with him now because it’s your support that matters to me.”
The message comes at a time when many other Republicans are also beginning to turn on Trump’s agenda, including those in Congress and the U.S. Senate opposing the “One Big Beautiful Bill” on Capitol Hill.
If Spadea loses the election on June 10th, his career in Republican politics will be all but finished.
Ad shows 12th hour desperate attempt to salvage campaign
The ad will air on cable television and across digital platforms as the race enters its final stretch. Spadea is one of five Republicans vying for the nomination in the June 10 primary, along with Ciattarelli, State Sen. Jon Bramnick (R-Westfield), and two lesser-known candidates.
Trump’s endorsement of Ciattarelli has added new intensity to the contest, reigniting tensions among GOP factions and prompting a flurry of responses from candidates and their campaigns. Ciattarelli has promoted the endorsement in recent ads, contrasting his support with what he has called Spadea’s “misguided attacks.”
Despite the setback, Spadea’s campaign is leaning on grassroots support and conservative messaging. In recent months, a Trump-aligned super PAC supporting Spadea had previously aired ads featuring praise from Trump and hosted a fundraiser headlined by Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump.
With the primary just days away, Spadea’s ad signals a shift in tone — from chasing an endorsement to rallying the party base.
